2/16-17: Intergenerational Ministry Workshop

Intergenerational Ministry Workshop at Menucha February 16-17, 2018

What are the best ways to help people grow in their faith? In times past, Sunday school classes divided by age seemed to work…but things are different today. Is the Spirit leading us to new methods?

Those interested in how churches can do a better job with Christian education for people of all ages are invited to attend a 24 hour retreat led by the Rev. Jason Santos, Ph.D., our denomination’s Mission Coordinator for Christian Formation.

The workshop is being held at Menucha Retreat & Conference Center in Corbett, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The retreat begins at lunch on Friday, February 16, and concludes with lunch on Saturday, February 17. Early arrivals on Thursday, February 15 are welcome.

There are four sessions:

Session A: Elvis has left the Building (or, a case for why young people have left the church)
Session B: Born Identity (or, how human identity is formed through Christian community)
Session C: This is Our Story (or, what exactly do we mean by Christian formation?)
Session D: Into the Wild (or, where do we go from here?)

Dr. Santos expects that 24 hours is “enough time for participants to engage something intensely and leave with some new ideas or frameworks for thinking about Christian Formation.”

Registration is open at https://menucha.org/programs/intergenerational. For questions, please call Rev. Lori Nance, Menucha Program Director, at 503-695-2243.
