“From Our Home to Theirs: The Importance of the Therapist’s Own Emotional System in Doing Clinical Work.”

Therapists and counselors are invited to a special workshop with Dr. Ronald W. Richardson hosted by Seattle Presbytery.

A major omission in much of the training of clinicians today is the lack of focus on the person of the therapist and what they bring from their own family of origin to the clinical effort. The triangle of Client, Therapist, and Therapist’s Own Family is ignored. The focus of this workshop will be on the importance of doing one’s own family of origin work and how that can help our clinical work.

Ron Richardson is an accredited marriage and family therapist (and until retirement Supervisor) in AAMFT. He is a Diplomate in AAPC. He was the Executive Director of a large, metropolitan-wide counseling agency in Vancouver, Canada. He is the author of many books on the application of Bowen family system theory to the practice of counseling: Family Ties That Bind, Couples in Conflict, Becoming Your Best (on Jane Austen and Bowen systems theory), Birth Order and You, and Jane Austen's Guide to Good Relationships

Registration fee: $25* (includes workshop, lunch & book). Online registration and payment required.  *Seattle Presbytery members & Samaritan Counseling employees only: $10; enter discount code seapres2017 at checkout.
